Hello, welcome to the page of socialistic ads. What you can find here? Two things: a brief (hi)story on advertising in socialistic countries (especially in former Czechoslovakia), and a lot of funny ads published in magazines of that era (snapshots and scans of originals, including their translations).
The main reason why I made this website, was the great fun I had when discovered a pile of old magazines from that era and the fact that I'd like to share it with other people. Especially westerners, for whom it might be pretty shocking:-) I also added a background story, trying to describe the situation in these countries to help to understand, why these ads could have been created.
